Birthday Dress.

William Thomas Photo (as always!)

Dress: Zara, Shoes: Thrifted, Hat: Thrifted, Necklaces: BCBG, Sunglasses: Ray Ban

A few random shots taken on my birthday; apple picking and attempting to break into an abandoned house in Aquebouge. Is it normal for a freshly turned 24 year old to be scared shitless of a forgotten house in daylight?

These photos are the perfect example of why I really do love living on Long Island. Everything I'll ever need is a car ride away. We spent a beautiful afternoon gallivanting around apple farms and getting piss drunk at our favorite winery. A few nights later we were roaming around Brooklyn drunk as I stuffed my face with the most delicious falafel. Then, witnessed my boyfriend possibly eat his own weight in free pizza. I'm vegan so Billy had A LOT of pizza to eat (every drink earns you a pizza @ the Alligator Lounge!) I think he learns to appreciate me most when he's drunk, and full.

Never-ending Summer.

William Thomas Photo

Rag and Bone romper, Pucci sunglasses, LAMB bag, thrifted shoes, BCBG acessories

This is the point in my blogging career where I should say "Hello again! Sorry for neglecting you, Blog World!"

Honestly, this Summer, I've had NO inspiration to dress, and certainly no inspiration to share. I've spent nearly everyday at the beach, reading, relaxing and working. I don't know how I want to express myself and appear to the world with my sense of style during the Summer. I never have.

As a kid I spent my entire Summer vacation day dreaming about who I wanted to be for Fall. I've spent the last few weeks figuring out what I like and what will work and make me feel my best for the upcomming season. I'm excited to share what I've found. I think I've acquired some interesting and accessible pieces. But here, now, is my last and only Summer post. Enjoy.

Brooklyn Bound

Dress: Second hand, Sunglasses: D&G, Shoes: JC Lita, Ring/Necklace: BCBG, Bag: Vintage

Took a trip into Manhattan to see the Alexander Mqueen exhibit but went to the wrong museum! Whoops!! We made the best of our trip to MOMA by spending most of our time in contemporary art. Then headed back into Brooklyn for vegan eats at Food Swings and slushy drinks!

PS: I spent 7 hours straight running through BK and Manhattan in the Litas. Amazing.

Alexander Wang shorts.

Top: Opening Ceremony, Shorts: Alexander Wang, Shoes: Jeffery Campbell "Lita" Hat: Vintage

I've had a complete lack of inspiration lately, I don't know if it's the change in weather or constant rain in NY that makes me want to lay in bed rather than dress myself up. I started adding a few "essential" pieces into my closet, one of which is the coveted Lita shoe. The reviews are right, these shoes are COMFORTABLE! I'll definitely pick up another pair to run around Brooklyn and Manhattan in.

Have a great weekend!

The Arboretum.

vintage denim jacket I tailored myself, BCBG tank, black skinnies with zipper bottoms that I can't remember the brand name of, vintage boots, Ralph Lauren round sunglasses, MK belt, BCBG ring, Tiffany's ring, DKNY watch

Took a trip to the Arboretum on our mini vacation just in time to see all the beautiful shades of pinks, purples and green. Going back to work after 5 days off is so difficult, it's a huge reminder that I need to redefine my career path soon. Very soon. I'm interested in what other bloggers are doing in their work life, fashion related or not. It's tough (and expensive) to keep put with the demands of an interesting and inspirational fashion blog. Any feedback on your work life and ways you make fashion fit into your budget is appreciated!

Today is my photographer and most importantly boyfriend's 24th birthday. Make sure you head over to his link and check out his work, it's the best way to wish him a happy glad-you-were-born-today! We're off to Brooklyn to play arcade games in bars and get drunk enough to eat a LOT of vegan fast food and noodles!

Flower and Power.

Vintage bell sleeve flower dress, Michael Kors boots.

"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."

Martin Luther King Jr.

In the recent events going on in the US, this is the only quote that can sum up my feelings.

I have to confess, I've had trouble putting together some strong spring looks. I'm pretty over this whole color blocking trend, at least with bold colors that don't have any business being near each other. I can appreciate a color blocked outfit with neutrals that create a fluent statement. As for my overall taste in fashion, I'm in to basic classic pieces. I can't see any future benefit in purchasing say...a new pink jacket and green pants (which can look very on trend paired together) i just don't see myself using those pieces again and again. I have my safety colors, black and grey tones and secretly can't wait for fall so I can feel a connection to my wardrobe again. As for now, I'm going to continue thrifting through spring and summer since these are my least favorite seasons for fashion. This way if I get the urge to color block or stick to a seasonal trend, it can be done at a price that's comfortable for me and it's great way to recycle.

Fuzzy Sweater.

Tank top: BCBG, Sweater: Vintage, Shorts:D&G, Boots: Adrienne Vittadini

A few photos Billy took in our room before I was on my death bed for 12 hours. I hate those random days where you're only sick for part of the day. I'd rather be sick the whole day and wake up the next morning refreshed rather than feel surprisingly better around 6pm and be pissed off I wasted my whole day. Back to my outfit, I'm really excited about this fuzzy black sweater. I saw it hanging in my favorite thrift shop from a few rows of clothes over and nearly knocked another woman over trying to retrieve it (not that anyone was fighting me for this beastly sweater). It's over sized but a little too over sized. I'll probably need to tailor it the next time I wear it. It was the perfect accent to down-play this slutty call girl look I went for that night.

Alexander Wang Boots.

Alexander Wang Addison Boots.

I mentioned a few posts back about my ruthless hunt for the Addison boot online. Sadly nearly every site carried the boot in a size 36. A few days back I headed over to my local Barney's store to make my monthly payment for their credit card. Keeping in mind my boyfriend, grandmas and cousins birthday are next month I attempted to put the "blinders" on when entering the store and gun it to the register to get the bill taken care of. There were a few customers at the counter so instead of waiting I started wandering. Normally I'd say this was a big mistake because I'd end up going home with a bunch of things never needed, this was fate. I sloped over to the shoe department and to my suprise and utter delight I saw it. It (with a Capitol "I") was the Addison boot, ridiculously marked down and my size. The ONLY pair. Still being budget conscious I told the sales person I was hesitant because of future bills. She kindly told me they would be going to 40% off on Friday and took my name to hold them. $174 well spent, I am so pleased to have them in my collection.
